Sharon Wheat San Francisco–Bay Area fiber artist, has established her reputation in the Fine Arts with exceptional fiber Sculpture for more than 30 years. She also designs commissioned pieces for corporate settings or private collections. Sharon Wheat is currently exhibiting multi-media sculptural totems. Universal Totems physically capture aspects of Creative Energy found in and expressed through tribal cultures, ritual and symbolic imagery, They are formed from wood, African mud cloth, Indonesian fabrics, Indian silks, South American and Turkish carpets and other textiles remnants from around the world. They often include horsehair, bone, wood hands from Bali and objects created or collected from travels.

Sally Rosenberg A native of Southern California, Sally Rosenberg is a mixed media artist with a background in graphics, scenic design, and illustration. She has been working with gourds for ten years, showing and selling her work at galleries, fine art shows and festivals.

Pat Boyd A native of Pasadena, Patricia Boyd was raised in a family of artists, including her grandparents, her mother and her sister. It was her mother, however, who provided her with many opportunities for her creativity to find its own path and her sister who encouraged her to work with gourds. But only after taking a trip to Africa in l997, did she became passionate about using gourds to share the images and life she had seen on the plains of Kenya.
Previously, Pat had created wearable art using found treasures, jewelry, combined with fabric, wood, bone, buttons, plaster, and metals. And now she incorporates all of this into sculpting unique gourd vessels using their natural shapes.
Patricia also has a background in the health field working as a nurse and then as a physician’s assistant for over 35 years. Using this background in the arts and the human body, Pat has brought her own unique expression of figurative gourd sculptures in the field of art. Her Web site is located at www.gourdsculpture.com

Larry McClelland
Larry is a native Californian, having resided in Southern California all of his life. He received his Bachelors Degree and did graduate study in art at UCLA, specializing in painting. He has worked in a variety of media and began working with gourds in 1994. Gourds have now become his exclusive media of choice since they offer and endless variety of subject matter and expression. The great variety of shapes and textures of gourds inspire a variety of styles including “critters” and other sculptural pieces influenced by Australian aboriginal art.
Larry has won numerous prize in gourd art competitions in California and Arizona and displays his work in several galleries in Southern California and Arizona.

Howard Swerdloff
Howard Swerdloff is an accomplished wood worker, sculptor, builder of custom furniture, and designer. He has studied with renowned sculptor Charles Dickson, and worked as a fabricator/designer for visual artist Frank Romero. His stunning portfolio comprised of uniquely sculptural and multi-dimensional individual works from wood sculptures to exotic kitchen designs and more. He continues to refine and expand his work, experimenting with the unlimited combination of mediums available to the artist.

Judy & Larry Cunningham After twenty years as a painter in acrylics, Judy has incorporated various techniques on her gourds such as carving, dyeing, pyrography, enameling and Larry’s glass.
Larry began working in fused glass in 2003, and has studied under Leigh Adams, Shirley Webster and Roger Thomas.
Now Larry and Judy are combining their talents toward “gourds and glass” with their favorite design themes inspired from African, marine life, floral and Art Nouveau. Their work is now being recognized for combining the traditional with the contemporary, both in abstract and graphic forms.
Their work is featured in the Gallery section of the “Complete Book of Gourd Carving” by Jim Widess and Ginger Summit, Sterling Publication Company, 2004, and in “The Immortal Molded Gourds” by Betty Finch and Guojun Zhang, the Caning Shop, 2006.
